India saw a 21% growth in tablet shipments in Q4 2023; the iPad 10 and iPad 9 variants are the most popular, the research says.

In the final quarter of 2023, there was a quarter-over-quarter increase in the Indian tablet market. In their Tablet PC Market Report Review for Q4 2023, CyberMedia Research (CMR) observed that a robust demand for 5G tablets was the primary driver of the growth in tablet shipments in Q4 2023. During the quarter, tablets with only Wi-Fi connectivity also did well; they accounted for the bulk of the market share and saw a quarterly increase in shipments. According to the research, Samsung, Lenovo, and Apple were some of the top tablet brands.

According to the CMR study, on a quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) basis, the overall shipments of tablets in India increased by 21% in Q4 2023. Shipments of tablets with support for the 5G network climbed by 43% year over year (YoY), while shipments of tablets with only Wi-Fi connection increased by 13% YoY, making up 52% of total shipments. The survey also stated that shipments of premium tablets—that is, models priced between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 30,000—saw a 95% QoQ increase, indicating a shift in the market toward higher-end gadgets.

According to the research, Apple maintained its leading position in terms of market share at 25%. The report claims that this was enhanced by the rising demand for the iPad 10 and iPad 9 series models from the firm. Lenovo, whose main models in India during the last quarter were the Lenovo Tab M10 and Lenovo Tab M9, came in second place with a 24 percent market share, according to the report.

With a 19% market share, South Korean electronics giant Samsung took third place in Q4 2023 tablet shipments, trailing only Apple and Lenovo. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and Galaxy Tab S6 Lite were the brand’s most popular models, the study said.

According to the data, there was a 14% year-over-year decrease in tablet shipments in India for the year 2023. Nonetheless, during the calendar year, shipments of 5G tablets increased by 48% YoY. The analysis also pointed out that while tablet shipments overall decreased, the rise in 5G tablet shipments raises the possibility of a change in customer preferences within the tablet market.

According to the report’s 2024 projection, the Indian tablet market would increase steadily by 5–10 percent thanks to a variety of product options, changing consumer preferences, and technical improvements.
